POSTER!

As shown in previous blogs we completed our teaser poster. Well here is our  main poster for our film which would come out after the teaser one.

We have added in the reviews from movie magazines and critics to show what others thought of the movie and to advertise it well. We have also added a viral website to the bottom of the poster the sames as our teaser poster as marketing for the movie. It is a website where fans can post what they think is out there and upload images and videos etc.
I think the poster has a clear theme with our movie trailer because we have used an image that promotes a scary film and have used similar colouring with a black and white image and have used the same font for the title and other text. This shows how they have a running theme.

Completed Magazine cover

Here is our completed magazine cover our last task. We feel that it is in a typical EMPIRE style magazine fitting in with the conventions of film magazines and promoting our film. We completed the magazine in InDesign but edited pictures in Photoshop which i explained in the previous blog.

žThe font we mainly used was the same font we used for the title of our film making it memorisable and recognizable. We also, stuck to using 3 main colours red, black and white which are typical horror colours and it is also one of the conventions of a magazine as they only use 3 or 4 main house colours. We added a website address under EMPIRE to promote the magazine and also, more info and behind the scenes footage could be on this website  therefore promoting our film even more.

Photos for our magazine

We shot our photos as we planned on a white background in college. We all had a filming props to hold during our photo shoot, Tanya held a clapper board Kate held a tripod and i held a light. We set the camera up  on a tripod stand and put it on self timer. We took several pictures from different angles. After looking at all the pictures we decided  on the first one we took which is the camera looking up at us and were looking down on it making us look more important we then went onto Photoshop and changed the curves of the photo which affected the lighting of the picture (image, adjustment, curves) and made it more white and bright giving it a eery feel and making us stand out more in the picture it also, made the light on the wall less visible making it look more like a professional magazine. We then saved this edited photo and put it into InDesign were our layout for our magazine is. After adjusting colours of fonts and removing colour background from the EMPIRE title and the number 30 which we done on Photoshop by erasing the colour and in InDesign by using the clipping path we had our final magazine cover.

Here are the pictures we took during or photo shoot for our magazine cover.

After trying all these photos in InDesign with our planned our front cover we decided that the last photo shown above worked the best. However all the photos we took looked good and suited what we wanted for our magazine but we needed to take into acount how the masthead and coverlines worked with the picture therefore we decided on the last one as it does not cover the image to much as we want the picture to interact with the reader as much as possiable and by covering the face would reduce this.

Starting our magazine

Today we started to design our magazine cover. We made a basic layout for our empire magazine only needing to take a photo to add to our magazine cover. We decided to take the picture on a white background allowing us to then change the colour of it in InDesign. Me Kate and Tanya decided to hold a piece of filming equipment during the photo shoot making us look like we were the stars of the film and since the film is like a home video this seemed appropriate to do.
